IM240902 Interim or Permanent: Packaging & Handling Engineer

Our Client makes pumps and pulverizers that are used worldwide in the mining industry. Their machines are used to extract precious minerals from the earth. Minerals that we secretly use a lot every day in all kinds of equipment. Although the minerals are very small, our machines are very large and they are designed, made, sold and shipped all over the world from the Netherlands.
As a Packaging & Handling Engineer you play an important role in moving the large machines from A to B. You see a large machine and packaging and think, that could be easier, more environmentally conscious, safer, more efficient or cost-effective. This allows you to work proactively by designing solutions in packaging and internal logistics/handling in our Client’s Siemens NX drawing program. You also think about lifting activities, a Packaging BOM, work instructions, use of the right resources, impact on safety and you act as a troubleshooter for needs presented by the operation, tackle this as a project and ensure its implementation.
This is what you’re going to do among other things:
- Create design & change packaging;
- Choice of packaging materials, keeping our sustainability goals in mind;
- Project leader for improvements regarding packaging and also outsourcing or purchasing;
- Responsible for packaging design (OE & AM);
- Changing a Packaging BOM;
- Responsible for optimization and safe operations regarding internal logistics/handling (transport/handling of goods/materials);
- Monitors packaging progress regarding input to packaging department;
- Drawing up lifting plans/instructions.
Education and qualifications
- You have completed a technical education, preferably mechanical engineering and function at HBO working and thinking level;
- You have experience with strength calculations;
- Preferably experience with Siemens NX or a comparable drawing package;
- You are well familiar with various packaging techniques/materials, internal logistics/handling and hoisting;
In this position you have contact with all operational departments and you act as a “spider in the web”. That is why we are looking for someone who works independently, proactively and solution-oriented, uses data for support and has good technical insight.
